Loire a velo, there's plenty of cycling along riverside paths and easy cycling along the little backroads. You can stop for a wine tasting as you cycle through the vineyards, or rent a row of vines for a special bucolic present.

Places to Visit

The Sleeping Beauty chateau at Usse. Henry II’s 12th century castle in Chinon where our English king lived, and spent more time than in England. Alienor of Aquitaine and Richard’s tombs at Fontevraud. Marvellous chateaux in medieval towns, ones you shouldn’t miss include Saumur, Langeais, Azay le Rideau and Amboise. Glorious gardens to visit, Villandry, the Chateau de Rivau and La Chatonniere are particular favourites. Celebrated Riding School, Cadre Noir at Saumur.
